In September 2018, T and I took a trip to Kyoto to meet with our Japanese friend who lives there. We met this friend back in Toronto while she was there on a working holiday visa, so of course, now that we were in Japan, we had to meet again in her home country! We spent a couple of days walking around the city and enjoying what has become one of our favourite cities in Japan. What we love about Kyoto is the wonderful amalgamation of history and modernization – you can walk through the city’s shopping district where it’s bustling with business people, tourists, and students, then walk through historic temples and streets in almost the same breath. Kyoto is a bustling city with a rich history and a vibrant night life, music and aromas of local cuisine fill the air.
