Shamisen Concert

A fellow English teacher invited us to watch her annual Shamisen concert in the city. Shamisen is a traditional Japanese instrument first derived from Chinese instruments. It is 3-stringed and a plectrum is used to pluck the strings. During the concert, we also got to watch dance performances and hear Enka singing performances. My favourite part was watching a young girl shredding the Shamisen (pictured below). I was told after by our friend that she often practices until her fingers bleed. Talk about passion!
